SUMMARY:Creative Exchanges Course
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to offer a new 2-day Creative Exchanges course designed for both activities\ncoordinators working in residential or day care settings\, and artists interested in engaging with older people\nin a care setting. Creative Exchanges will provide participants with: \n• An understanding of the value of creative activity\, particularly in a care setting\n• Practical skills to carry out creative activities with people in residential and day care settings\n• Experience of taking part in arts based workshops \nThe course is designed to provide meaningful opportunities to engage older people in arts activities and\nadopts a person-centred approach promoted by HIQA’s National Quality Standards for Residential Care\nSettings for Older People (2016). \nVENUE AND DATES\nThe Irish Museum of Modern Art\, Kilmainham\, Dublin 8\nWednesdays: 24th and 31st January 2024. 10:00am – 4:00pm both days. \nPRICE\nCreative Exchanges costs €350 per participant. DESCRIPTION:We’ve received funding from Sport Ireland to offer a health and wellness course to family carers – Actively Changing Gears. We are very aware of the pressures many family carers are experiencing during Covid-19 and we want to offer a six-week course designed to boost wellbeing and resilience and also increase levels of physical activity. We hope that by taking part in the course you will feel better equipped to look after yourself as well as the persons in your care. \nWe will deliver four courses to groups of 20 family carers. There is no cost as it is funded by Sport Ireland. This project was approved by Government with support from the Dormant Accounts Fund. \nEach session lasts 1.5 hours and this includes half an hour with a physical activity trainer; the rest of the session focuses on building our mental and emotional resilience. DESCRIPTION:AgeWise is a professionally facilitated workshop designed to create awareness of attitudes to ageing and older people  either in your workplace or our offices.  It is suitable for employers and people delivering services to older people. \nAge & Opportunity’s AgeWise workshop raises awareness of the attitudes to ageing and older people in organisations whose work affects the lives of older people. From there\, it encourages action on how ageism may be reduced within organisations and workplaces. \nWorkshops are being delivered on Zoom to groups of 10 – 15 people maximum and are delivered by a trained Age & Opportunity facilitator. \nThe workshop enables participants to: \n\nunderstand the personal\, cultural and structural effects of ageism\,\nidentify instances of discrimination against older people\,\ndevise strategies to counter age discrimination in their workplace or community.\n\nThis workshop is ideal for everyone whose work affects the lives of older people. SUMMARY:Spirituality Course
DESCRIPTION:A search for meaning. A way of living. A fountain of wonder. ‘To see a World in a Grain of Sand’. Something\, for the sake of which\, it is worthwhile to live on earth. ‘The laughing heart’. A sense of connection with something bigger than ourselves. \nOur Spirituality course is designed to invite participants to explore spirituality from the perspective of their life experience. DESCRIPTION:The Floor is Yours! invites dance artists who work with older people to come together to connect\, reflect and share their practice. The aim of day will be to recognise\, build and strengthen the community of dance artists working with older people\, scale and map the needs of this community and share some of the knowledge\, tools and skills that already exist in the sector. DESCRIPTION:The Bealtaine Gathering is a networking day which brings together Bealtaine Festival event organisers\, partners and supporters.  We’ll have inspirational speakers\, be showcasing some great projects and giving tips and advice on running events arising from your feedback.  David Slater of Entelechy Arts and the Against the Machine Festival is our keynote speaker\, which is not to be missed. The full schedule of speakers will be announced later in October. \nWe especially hope that local Bealtaine organisers\, groups and artists can come along\, as well as those who work in libraries\, arts offices or venues and are involved in running a Bealtaine programme.
