SUMMARY:Changing Gears course - Lucan\, Dublin
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to offer Changing Gears\, in person this November and December in Lucan\, Co. Dublin. Designed to boost wellbeing and resilience for those aged 50+ years\, it is a five-session course which focuses on managing transitions in mid to later life. \nDo you want to discover more about yourself and your capacity to meet different challenges? Would you like to take stock of your skills and experiences and plan your next steps in life? \nWhat is Changing Gears?\nChanging Gears supports people in dealing with transitions or significant life-challenges in mid to later life. It focuses on how we can build resilience\, take stock\, make changes\, and bounce forward in life. \nHow does it work?\nChanging Gears offers participants time to: \n\nDevelop skills and techniques to build resilience and confidence in managing life-changes or transitions.\nReframe transitions in their lives as opportunities with positive options\, challenging negative stereotypes about ageing.\n\nThe course invites participants to reflect on challenges they have experienced in the past and life-lessons they have learned. In this way\, strategies for building resilience and managing change draw on personal experience to lay the foundations for a more positive and fulfilling future. \nHow can I get involved?\nThis course is delivered in 2 ½ -hour sessions once a week over 5 weeks. \nVenue:         Lucan Library\, Unit 33\, Lucan Shopping Centre\, Newcastle Rd\, Esker South\, Lucan\, Co. SUMMARY:Creative Exchanges - Level 2
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to offer a follow-on course to our initial 2-day Creative Exchanges course. \nCreative Exchanges -Level 2 is a 2-day course (1 day per week over 2 weeks) designed for activities coordinators working in residential/day care settings. It is also suitable for those with an arts background interested in engaging with older people in a care setting*. It has been developed so participants can build on their learning from Creative Exchanges – Level 1 and develop further confidence in their roles. \nCreative Exchanges Level -2 will provide participants with:\n• Further practical skills to carry out creative activities with people in residential and day care settings. \n• An opportunity to experience arts-based workshops which allow time to demonstrate skills learned and to receive specialised coaching and feedback (helpful tips for delivery in one’s own work setting). \n• Space in which to explore and evaluate the effectiveness of different creative activities and approaches with particular groups in various settings. \nOn completion of the course a Certificate of Attendance will be provided by Age & Opportunity. \nVENUE AND DATES\nVenue: The Irish Museum of Modern Art\, Kilmainham\, Dublin 8\nDates: Wednesdays\, 19th and 26th November Time: 10:15am – 4.45pm \nCOURSE FEE\nCreative Exchanges course fee\, €380 per participant. DESCRIPTION:Introduction to (PALs) Leitrim  \nAre you over 50 and interested in leading physical activity in your group/community?  \nLeitrim Local Sports Partnership in partnership with Age & Opportunity are hosting a one-day workshop which will introduce older adults to the PALs initiative\, an initiative which trains older adults to lead activities with their groups.
