European Week of Sport
A week of physical activity in September each year where everyone is encouraged to BE ACTIVE!
What is the European Week Of Sport?
The aim of the Week is to promote sport and physical activity across Europe. It is for everyone regardless of age, background or fitness level. With a focus on grassroots initiatives, the Week aims to inspire Europeans to #BeActive on a regular basis and to create opportunities in people’s everyday lives to exercise more.
As an annual event, the European Week of Sport inspires all kinds of creative and exciting events and activities in different countries.
This September we are once again teaming up with Sport Ireland to celebrate European Week of Sport.
How does it work?
During this week our Active Programme team is organising a number of “I’ve always wanted to try …..” events where individuals and groups are invited to take part in a sport for the first time.
Past events include:
- sailing
- kayaking
- skiing
- canoeing
- over 50’s swim and water sports
- orienteering
- horse riding
We would encourage everyone to use the opportunity of the week to try a sport you’ve always wanted to try and to be active.
How can I get involved?
Check out the Age & Opportunity events taking place each day of the week in different locations nationwide.
